Colourful hustle and bustle at Königsweg: celebration of International Children's Day 2024

For the second time, the RBZ am Königsweg celebrated the ‘International Children's Day’ on 6 June with the very guests that this day is all about: children!
This year, around 300 children from neighbouring primary schools and kindergartens were invited. As word has got around among the primary schools about the wide range of activities we offer, this time our cooperation partner, the entire Uwe-Jens-Lornsen primary school in Hammer, was joined by four classes from the Theodor Heuss School in Hassee. The Hardenberg School was represented for the first time with 2 classes. Of course, the ‘Schulis’ from our Königsweg day care centre were not to be missed.

This year, 12 pupils and 4 teachers from our partner school IRTS in Lille (https://irtshdf.fr/) attended the celebrations as special guests. We were delighted to spend this special day with our friends from Lille. We were also very pleased to receive a visit from the European education officer from the Ministry of Education. We feel very much valued by this visit.

The trainee educators and socio-pedagogical assistants prepared creative and highly professional activities with a wide range of facets. For over three hours, the children were able to enjoy free face painting, puppet theatre, dancing, painting bags or stones, making balloon animals, stringing bead necklaces and bracelets, listening to stories, taking imaginary journeys to foreign countries, eating waffles, making juices, running around, completing obstacle courses, conjuring up giant soap bubbles and much, much more.

This year's motto was Diversity - in line with the 12th Diversity Day of the Diversity Charter Initiative (https://www.charta-der-vielfalt.de/aktivitaeten/deutscher-diversity-tag/), which the RBZ am Königsweg signed this year. Large roll-ups in bright colours, banners, flags, pins, colourful cakes and waffles, rainbow make-up and colourful water clearly reflected our motto ‘The Königsweg is colourful’ on this day.

Thank you to all the pupils and colleagues for the impressive organisation of this day. Experiencing the Königsweg flooded with children's laughter, bustling activity and colourful togetherness was a feast for all of us indeed!
