School Award 2024: Taking part means winning
On Friday, 7 June 2020, a delegation of six of us attended the award ceremony for the School of the Year 2024 in Schleswig-Holstein. A little tension, excitement and hope could already be felt, and each of us was perhaps already thinking about what we would do and say if we were on the podium.
We first enjoyed a colourful programme with speeches, including one from our Minister of Education Karin Prien, and enlivened by the cheerful performances of the choir of class 1c from Suchsdorf primary school.
Each nominated school was honoured with a certificate for its valuable work on behalf of the pupils- including our pupil representative Patrick Pausch who received the certificate for the RBZ am Königsweg.
We are delighted - even if we didn't take one of the top three places; but we were close! We took part and this alone has brought a new self-awareness to our school. Many participants from very different areas of our school have been able to experience the many ways in which we equip our students with important skills for the future. We have become aware of our resources and use them to develop new strengths and even closer cohesion.
In this way, we can confidently say what the jury also reflected to us:
We are strong through diversity, we give support and show attitude!
